The European company partners with factories catering to the booming number of open concept offices, shared spaces and tech hubs
Officeo, a European supplier of novel office furniture solutions, has announced plans to open a distribution centre in Dubai, UAE, to address emerging business partnerships and growing demand for furniture solutions tailored to expanding tech hubs and open concept spaces.
The UAE plays a key role in the furniture industry in the region with over 600 factories and a capital investment of over Dh1 billion ($272 million), according to Dubai Exports. It is estimated that the overall furniture demand in the UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Qatar and Saudi Arabia amounts to $4.5 billion, according to ResearchGate.
Anna Kowalewska, managing director of Officeo Europe & Middle East, said: “Dubai is the focal point for our company as a central hubs for distribution and link to a great client base. Middle East and North America account for considerable portion of our sales and we have decided to begin 2017 with a dedicated expansion that will serve as a building block to continue growing.”
“There is a new trend arising in the UAE and other GCC countries which require agile work spaces, especially with the increasing trend for shared commercial and open concept spaces as well as growing number of tech hubs and incubators. These are smaller offices in need of fully fitted solutions, a good example is the Index Tower at the DIFC which offers spaces between 50 to 300 sq m. In line with such demand, we have also launched the agile Swing Series filing cabinets to meet the ever-changing consumer needs,” added Kowalewska.
Teresa Fidor, commercial director of Officeo North America, said: “Logistics play a key role in the furniture industry and with a distribution centre we will be able to service the needs of our clients in a dedicated fashion. Similarly to the UAE, in Canada there has been a vast growth and investment in local production of furniture and we are keen to capitalise on this developing trend.”
In addition to offering functional and customised office furniture solutions, Officeo caters to factories with dedicated range of ready-made systems for drawers, fabrication of frames for filing cabinets along with segregators and accessories. These products are utilised by some of the largest European producers of office furniture, in addition to small and medium-sized factories, the company said.
